Dal with Ghiya

Dal with Ghiya* (bottle-gourd)
Roti/Chapati or Rice
Cabbage sabzi


For the Dal:
50g Chana Dal
50g soaked Ghiya
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp mustard/jeera

For the Roti/Rice:
50g wheat flour or rice

For the Cabbage Sabzi:
100g shredded cabbage
50g green peas
1/2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp jeera/mustard
salt/turmeric. to taste

For the Salad:
30g Tomato
30g Cucumber
30g Onion


For the Dal:
Pressure cook chana dal with ghiya and turmeric. Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seed/jeera. Let it splutter. Add this ghee to boiled dal. Add salt. Serve hot.

For the Cabbage Sabzi:
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and jeera. Once spluttered, add shredded cabbage and boiled green peas. Saute until tender.
Add salt/turmeric. Cover and let it steam.

For the Salad:
Chop veggies. Squeeze lemon juice on top. Add salt and Splenda to taste.
